Job application: don’t neglect the email!

Have you ever wondered what you're supposed to write while sending an application by email? If you should send a motivational email and an attached CV? Or if you rather should send a simple email with your CV and cover letter attached? The email can be crucial in the job application process! Here are some tips to help you to decide which one is the best option for you. 👍

Motivational email
If you're mindful of your application - and you're quite sure that the recruiter isn't going to read your cover letter - we recommend you to include a short summary of your cover letter in your email (with a maximum of 4-5 lines). Then, you can attach your CV, recommendations or any other requested document.
The advantage of this kind of email for a recruiter is that it allows to easily read the candidate's key message in his/her in-box, rather than clicking on a file to open it - or download it and then open it.

Simple application email
If you want to get straight to the point by specifying your personal information and the job reference number, as is often requested in job offers, a simple email with your attachments will do the job. Just avoid being too direct like "Here's my application, Kind regards".
It's true that some recruiters don't have always the time to read every single one cover letter. The recruiter will then see your CV first and it'll be privileged. However, with equal skills and experience, the HR will pay more attention to your cover letter - or even your email body that will act as a first impression - in order to choose between you and the other candidates.

Either way
Application emails, just like written cover letters, have their own codes. Emails are shorter and cut to the chase. The difficulty lies in the need of keeping an everyday language - but still polite - which will catch the recruiter's attention and help him/her to quickly contextualize your message.
Either way, we recommend you specify your number of years of professional experience and even your current or previous position, if it's the same as the one you're applying for. Give a brief overview of yourself to get the recruiter's attention. Here are some examples be sure to make no mistake.
